Professional Background
Dr. Zulkifli bin Hassan is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with over 20 years of experience in orthopaedics and trauma care, with special expertise in arthroscopic and sports injury surgery.
He obtained his MBBS from Karnatak University, India (Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College) in 1998 and his Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2007.
Dr. Zulkifli began his career at Hospital Pulau Pinang and has served at Hospital Batu Pahat, Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Since 2007 he has been at Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru, where he is Head of the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department.
Between 2010 and 2013 he completed a Fellowship in Arthroscopic and Sports Injury Surgery at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan, and Konkuk University Medical Centre, Seoul.
He trains and mentors orthopaedic subspecialists under the Ministry of Health's Arthroscopy and Sports Injury Fellowship Program and serves as an examiner for national fellowship examinations. He coordinates Daycare Surgery, POMR, and Casemix programs at Hospital Sultan Ismail and was a committee member of the Malaysian Arthroscopic Society (2016–2023).
