Professional Background
Dr. Jayamalar Thurairajasingam is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon who has dedicated more than 25 years to her medical career. She completed her Master of Orthopaedic from Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2004 and further subspecialized in spine fellowship in 2013.
Dr. Jayamalar is currently the Head of Orthopaedic Spine service at Hospital Sultan Ismail, Johor Bahru. She specializes in the management of spine cases ranging from spine trauma, degenerative spine diseases, scoliosis, spine infection, tumours of the spinal cord and pain management in chronic back pain.
She has presented at numerous international meetings and published widely in medical journals. Dr. Jayamalar gained additional training in Germany in minimally invasive spine surgery and has attended courses in Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Brunei and Italy. She is actively involved in spine specialist surgeon training.
