Professional Background

Dr. Zolqarnain bin Ahmad graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1992 and completed postgraduate orthopaedic training at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2003. He was gazetted as Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sarawak General Hospital and has served at various government hospitals in Sarawak, Kelantan and Johor.

He developed an interest in musculoskeletal tumour management in Sarawak with Professor Dr Pan Kok Long (UNIMAS) and completed the Subspecialty Orthopaedic Oncology programme under the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2013. He is a member of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Oncology interest group.

He served as Consultant Orthopaedic Oncology at Hospital Sultan Ismail, the referral centre for southern Malaysia, before retiring from government service in 2019. His practice spans general orthopaedics, trauma surgery, arthroplasty, and orthopaedic oncology including benign and malignant tumours, metastatic bone disease and pathological fractures.

He has attended many orthopaedic courses locally and abroad, contributed to conference posters and journal publications, and been involved in clinical teaching and examination for UNIMAS, Melaka Manipal University and Newcastle Medical University, as well as national Hospital Cluster projects.
