About this service

Sport related injuries treatment covers acute and chronic problems in knee, ankle and other joints — from cartilage damage to ligament tears.

Meniscus Injury

If you have knee pain after a sports injury, see an orthopaedic specialist for evaluation. A torn meniscus is one possible cause and can be diagnosed with imaging such as MRI.

If you are diagnosed with a torn meniscus, arthroscopic surgery may be a treatment option. Small incisions and an arthroscope are used to visualise and repair the meniscus — typically less pain, faster recovery, and better outcomes than traditional open surgery.

Knee Cartilage Injury

Are you suffering from knee pain that does not respond to medication, injections, or physiotherapy? You might have a chondral or cartilage injury in your knee joint.

Arthroscopy allows surgeons to see, diagnose, and treat problems inside a joint. It is often performed after examination and imaging such as X-ray and MRI.

Cartilage injury can be the source of knee pain. Patella images before and after arthroscopic surgery illustrate typical findings.

Ankle Impingement and ATFL Tear

Are you suffering from chronic pain after an ankle sprain? Do your ankles give way on uneven ground? You might have ankle impingement or a tear of the anterior talo-fibular ligament (ATFL).

Keyhole surgery may be an option when pain persists despite analgesia, bracing, physiotherapy, and injections. It removes tissues or scars blocking the ankle and causing pain.

ATFL surgery repairs or tightens the lateral ankle ligaments when they are excessively loose after recurrent sprains, addressing instability by repairing the anterior talofibular ligament.
